Planters landscape first ever Botanical Museum in the region

[Source: UAE Interact ]

Dubai based Planters Horticulture have been contracted by the Government of Sharjah to advise on and execute the interior landscaping of the first Botanical Museum in the Middle East, which is located in Sharjah, next to the Natural History Museum.

This is the most ambitious and challenging interior landscaping project undertaken in the UAE - if not the entire Middle East. The Botanical Museum has been specifically designed to create a pre-historic rain forest that accurately reflects the Cretaceous period; it will both show and educate visitors on the species of plants that existed during the final period of the Dinosaur era.

Haley Sharpe Design, one of the worlds leading specialist design consultancies specialising in museum and visitor attractions, were the design consultants for this project. They have carried out a number of major projects in the UAE, namely the Natural History Museum in Sharjah, Arabian Wildlife Centre, the Archaeology Museum, Dubai Duty Free in the Sheikh Rashid Terminal and the interior design of the Dubai Cruise Ship Terminal.

The contract involved installing over 600 plants and trees, all of which varied in height from 10cm to 7.5m tall and varieties as diverse as Phoneix palms to 'rain forest' tree ferns. 'The plant selection was made from the most primitive plants available, to reflect how it looked in the Jurassic period.
The Sharjah Botanical Museum will provide visitors with both an opportunity to see and experience first-hand the type of environment that existed in the world 85,000,000 years ago…and furthermore it will be the first of its kind in the Middle East and so most definitely unique! (AMEInfo.com)
